I think I get what Neuralink & BCIs in general are after.

Note: this is first edit (mostly typos and other grammar fixes, and attempt to make sense of the really bad errors). Additions are allowed, but I revert to JFT (??link??) mode I do this soon after dropping in the s.o.c. content. Well, I intend to….:

I think I get what Neuralink & BCIs in general are after.

While searching for a Bluetooth keypad-style keyboard, I realized Google Image Search (GIS) is fucking amazing for finding things. Type in few keywords in a Google search, hit Images tab, and follow the images, refining the search as you click on things closer to what you are thinking about.

Which is sorta like those artificial life/evolution evolvers that left you click on a thing that’s closer to what you’re after, evolving a specific type of bug, long winged, for instance. todo: needs link to good example or vids
Is this an example of a 2nd brain”? But how does this blog posting differ from just writing things down? Something something about linking.

Now imagine instead of typing those words (“bluetooth keypad keyboard”) into a search bar, or trying to say it to a voice assistant (like Alexa devices, which I love, but are just above smart dogs in ability), you just think the words in your head: “show me pictures of a bluetooth keypad keyboard” and BOOM!, you see the results in your head
and can follow the images in your mind’s eye, modifying the search dynamically until the thing you want it shown.

Furthermore, instead of having to “think up” the words “bluetooth keypad keyboard”, you just see it in your head (just like you are see one now!), seeing it in your mind’s eye, and then sorta thinking “more of this” and via a BCI, the search “reverse gis <image in my mind’s eye>” is executed and returns the first 16 examples in a nice 4×4 grid, ready for you to focus on and like/dislike/add to my amazon cart (in your thoughts) a specific image IN YOUR MIND’s EYE.

At that point, is Neurolink/BCI any different than fetching the images from wet memory?

I think most people will get this, since they can see the image in their eyes. Every time I wrote “bluetooth keypad keyboard” I saw what I was thinking about. The specific one I think I remember getting for the PS3 as a possible “access the internet from the couch” effort. Most importantly, the reader of these words (magic words ??? is my writing those words a spell that crosses space & time to *poof* conjures up the image in the reader’s head???) likely also saw your their idea of the thing.

But what if the reader is computer/Bluetooth/keypad keyboard naive? What do they see? What does a blind person see? What do the technology naive see? And isn’t there some segment of the population that don’t “see” anything, who don’t have a “mind’s eye”?

thumbpasd reseaerch, relized gis is fucking amazing for finding things. a few keywords in searchm the hit images, and follow the images refining what you are looking for. so fuking handy!
this is is this 2nd brain stuff?
now imagine instead of typing up the work into a search bar, or trying to voice it to an “assistant (as dumb as a dog, maybe a little better… but i still love it!) you just think “show e pics of a bluetooth keypad keyboard anbd boom, you see the results in your head
an d can follow the images modifyting tyhe search dynamically until the thinbg you want it shown.
and instead of havig to thiunk up the works “blootooth kepad keyboard”, you just thought imagined wehat you want, seeing it in your mind’s eye, anmnd then sorta thinking you want gis of this thing. which gis can alreasdy do in reverse gis
at that point, is neuaklink/bci any difference than fetching the images from memory wet memory?
this is what I think neualink is after.

and most people will get this, since they can see the image in their eyes.every time i wrotwe “bluiutooth keypad keyboard” you likely saw your idea of thet thing. but what if your a computer naive… what do you see? what if tencho9logy naive? what then. and isn’t there some 5 of gpopulation that doesn’t “see thibnnsg in the minds’ eye?
